Pathblazer- Diagnostic Pretests

This prescriptive diagnostic test first appears after a student completes the screener. A student who scores at a kindergarten level will not have to take this diagnostic exam.

Key points about this test:

  • The standards for the year are broken up into three groups: A, B, and C.
  • Each group will have a pre- and post- test.
  • There are four to six questions per standard that make up the pre- and post- tests.
  • A student must score at least a 70% to test out of a standard.
    • If this is achieved, the student will be automatically bypassed out of the activities aligned to that standard.
  • Audio of the questions is available for K-2 content only.
  • Once a question has been answered, a student cannot go back and change their answer.
  • A student can stop the test and continue on at a later time, completing questions they have not seen previously.
  • There is not a time limit for these tests.
  • These cannot be unassigned.

Have students complete the test in 20-30 min intervals. Most of the tests are long and a student may lose focus after this time, which would impact their success on this test. Give them a break and have them pick up where they left off afterwards.

Although the teacher does receive the email, no notifications appear for the teacher. To this point, we do not recommend students use this feature.

At the completion of the test, a personalized learning path is assigned containing activities based on standards not yet mastered. Students should completed these assignments prior to taking the post-test. The learning path tile will look like the pretest tile, but it will be placed to the right of the pretest. The pretest tile will have Test on it. The tile with the asterisk (*) will show a student where they are in the program.
